III — The why
Jestermaxxing.
My operating philosophy, formalized: four tenets, two masks, one faith underneath. The court jester wore both masks — the one that laughs, and the one that tells the king the truth. Flip between them:
The four tenets
Identity
Be unapologetically yourself. Not a brand of yourself, not a marketable self — the whole motley thing. The jester’s license is honesty: he is the only one in the court with nothing to hide behind.
Hope
Unconditional hope for everyone. Not optimism — hope. Optimism reads the odds; hope ignores them on principle. It is extended to people before they earn it, because that is the only version that changes anyone.
Cost
Do what is right even when it is hard — especially then. The cheap virtues are worth exactly what they cost. The chapel took a year not because God needed the lumber, but because I did.
Joy
Stay happy anyway. Joy is a discipline, practiced daily like the prayer list and the vlog. The world will supply gravity for free; the fool’s whole vocation is to answer it with levity that costs something.
The foundation
Catholic to the studs.
I am Catholic, and not as a personality accessory. Daily prayer with a full intercession list — Our Father, Hail Mary, St. Michael, St. Benedict in Latin, then a personal conversation with God before the heavenly court gets its turn. It is the load-bearing wall of everything on this site: the books, the chapel, the patience a farm requires, the hope tenet above.
The Summa Scientiarum is this too — faith that the liberal arts fit together, that knowledge has architecture, that truth is one thing and not a thousand.
Building bridges, not walls.
With a friend across the East–West divide, I am laying groundwork for a lay fraternal order aimed at reunion — Orthodox and Catholic, each founder writing from his own tradition, synthesis by dialogue rather than decree. Our rule so far: local cells stay free, coordination stays light, and geography is a feature, not a bug.
We are not building a miniature church. We are building a table where both traditions can sit. That project starts with two people who can disagree without flinching — which is also a decent description of friendship.
